Melinda will use traditional and alternative occupational therapy techniques and tools to address developmental milestones in children with a variety of issues and disabilities. During your child's initial evaluation, Melinda will assess barriers that are occurring in your child's life that are preventing them from successful participation in age-appropriate activities through clinical observation, standardized assessments, and parent interview. Her goal is to determine and address the root issue/s (rather than addressing the symptoms) that are impacting your child and to treat through a variety of methods, many that are not commonly used in traditional occupational therapy settings through her advanced training in neuro-developmental, holistic, and alternative methods (see "about Melinda" for post-professional training). Many children are unable to have successful treatment with only the use of traditional methods commonly seen in occupational therapy. This is where other methods have proven to be successful in alleviating more deeply rooted issues. Melinda specializes in treating babies with tethered oral tissues, as well as children with sensory processing dysfunction. She thrives on more challenging cases and figuring out the pieces of the puzzle that will allow for greater success with treatment.
