Welcome! I am so happy that you found me, it is by no coincidence that you are here. Whether you are looking for services for yourself or your child, it is my goal to help you on this journey of healing and transformation. I am a holistic occupational therapist with several other titles and trainings under my belt (integrative health coach, yoga teacher, craniosacral therapist, etc) that I combine together to create a holistic, integrative treatment approach that is customized to what each individual needs. My primary specialty as an occupational therapist involves an extensive understanding of the nervous system and how it affects every single aspect of our lives. The best way to have a more joyful, vital life is through directly impacting the nervous system to feel a greater sense of peace, clarity, and balance.
For the first several years of my career, I had the greatest focus on treating children with sensory processing issues using a sensory integration approach that involves reorganization and improved functioning of the nervous system. Through these years I have developed a keen understanding of how the nervous system works, what throws it off balance, and many ways to restore balance in order to live optimally. I have stumbled upon many other treatment tools over the years that I have added to my toolbox to help the nervous system function optimally. Through my treatment of children, I have discovered how wide this epidemic is and how often the children who are struggling with these issues also have parents who are struggling but have learned to cope and function with them. But this comes at a price- these parents are often experiencing a constant high level of stress and are always compensating to function. I am one of these individuals. I spent my life in high alert with a nervous system that was constantly on edge and always seeking homeostasis/balance but rarely finding it. Over the years I have been able to find balance on a more regular basis and to become a much more resilient and healthy person. I would love to say that I am always in balance, but that is impossible for anyone given the high levels of stress we experience on a daily basis given our current culture. I do get to experience balance for longer periods of time and have a much easier time finding balance with all the tools I have acquired. This is my goal for you as well. I am not God, I cannot fix anyone’s problems. What I can do is act a facilitator and help you to experience this sense of balance, peace, and clarity, as well as giving you the tools to restore balance to your life on your own.
I am happy to work with individuals at a pace that works for them. Whether we work together for a few sessions or ongoing throughout the lifespan as issues arise, I truly want what is going to work best for each person. I work with individuals both on the phone and online through a variety of platforms, as well as in-person in my clinic in Florence, SC. This depends on the treatment approach that each individual needs, as well as the payor source. As an occupational therapist I am able to bill insurance for many of my services which allows for more individuals to have access to my services, but this also limits the creativity in treatment options and location/delivery method.
It is also important that I share that I am an empath. While you may not know what an empath is, you may also be one (I tend to energetically attract empaths to work with me) or at least have a loved one who is. An empath is a highly sensitive, highly intuitive person. I feel other people’s energy (good and bad), but I did not realize this until a few years ago. I often experienced anxiety, pain, and discomfort that would come out of nowhere and had no idea that I was picking up the energy of those around me. Busy environments or people with pain and/or negativity would bring my energy down and lead me to experience physical pain (often in the form of headaches) or emotional discomfort (anxiety, anger, sadness, etc). I was often told that I was moody and overly sensitive or emotional, but the fact is that I was not grounded and was soaking up others’ energy like a sponge. This is what an empath does. Life was like an emotional roller coaster that I could not get off of until I uncovered this truth about myself and learned how to ground and use this to my advantage. While there are negative aspects of being an empath, there are far more positive aspects. I am highly intuitive and often feel and know things that others are not picking up on. This is highly beneficial in working with individuals as a healer because I receive information that may otherwise be hidden or unknown. I am able to get to the root of the issues much more easily and increase healing speed and capacity. This also fuels my drive to help others and to constantly find new ways to promote healing because I can physically and emotionally feel others’ dis-ease and gives me great compassion towards them. I have also been blessed with the ability to wake others’ up to their own gifts and develop greater self-awareness and understanding to give them a sense of empowerment and appreciation instead of feeling like it is a burden. Even if you are not an empath, we are all still very much energetically connected and having this understanding is important to experience balance in life.
